Our Chapter Leader is Michael Romkes.
My name is Michael and I originally got involved in CMA in 1993 in South Africa since then, I have served the CMA ministry in various roles, currently as National President of CMA New Zealand as well as the local chapter leader of CMA Christchurch. I believe that God has called me to the ministry and I will continue to make myself available until God decides otherwise. From humble beginnings in 2006 with a core group of six, CMA has continued to grow in numbers and I am excited to see what God has in store for CMA NZ. I am married to Annalize and we have three children. We have recently moved to the Mainland (Christchurch) and are actively involved in our local chapter. I am privileged to own a Kawasaki ZX1400 Ninja as well as a BMW F800 GS adventure bike to explore God’s creation.

My older brother’s love for motorcycles got me interested in motorcycles and I have been riding motorcycles for the last 40 years. My wife and I were riding together and then later my son joined in on his little 125cc shortly before we, together with our daughter, immigrated to New Zealand in 2004. I bought a motorcycle soon after we arrived and was riding on my own till 2007 when I met a friend at church with the same love for motorbikes and wanted to use that as a vehicle to reach other bikers. We set up a website and started riding and just being out there, met friends and shared the Good News of Jesus Christ. We then looked on the internet for some ideas on how to attract more riders and stumbled on the CMA Christchurch connection. Instead of ”reinventing the wheel” so to speak, we both joined CMA Christchurch Chapter in Oct 2015 as their mission and values were what we stand for and want to do.
Our Road Captain is currently randomly selected from the group to plan and organise CMA rides.
